July Update

This is my third attempt at trying to get a new post up. Ok, what did I just write and then lose. Busy busy busy, bla bla bla. Kittens born, busy busy busy.
Were preparing for a hard winter this year so we just had 100 bails of hay delivered. Bla Bla Bla
Oh yea, hay. As I just said we had 100 bails of hay delivered not to mention the few other trips we have made to pick up hay. It is depressing when you have to spend an arm and a leg to purchase hay from other people when we own over 40 acres and most of it is perfectly good hay. Why don't we cut our own you ask? No tractor. We are one of the few people that live out in the sticks, have all this land and not own a tractor. We have looked into getting one but like most, we don't have $16,000+ laying around. Hey just found a quater $15,999.75 (almost there) :)
Hope all is well to the readers.

Dear Matthew and family,

This is Tracey from Oxford, Michigan. Just read your July blog. I remember when my family and I moved to our small farm. The first thing we did was purchase a used ford tractor. It's a 1957 and it did what we needed to clear the over grown pasture that would soon accommodate our few farm animals. Have you looked into used farm equipment? Anyways, our tractor has continued to do pretty well for us. It at least cuts the grass in our pasture when our goats and horses haven't cut it down enough. We don't have a hay baler, so I can't speak about that. We still have to buy hay for the winter. We
re spending about 5 bucks a bale. That's only because the farmers around here are totally ripping off the area (a lot of people around here have the money to spend). I know you guys need a lot more hay than we do. Well, good luck to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Tracey
