ThANKS...

Many thanks to all that attended the protest against Ringling Brothers Circus this past Saturday evening. S.C.A.N. has hosted at least 40+ demos since we began in August of 2001 and each demo brings along something different each time. On this occasion I was really impressed with the reaction we received from those going in. A few demonstrators were able to hand out leaflets and spend a moment or so talking to the people. We received very few one finger waves and the standard shout of “get a life”. To this day, I still don’t get the point of others yelling “get a life!” It is almost as though they feel that saying that is going to tear deep with in my spirit and I will give up our quest to educate people on the horrors of the circus industry. Not so, I just stand there and say to myself, ah –ok.

Sliming down

Once again we have come to a part of the sanctuary and life style that we hate to deal with but we have to begin to adopt out some of the animals. I personally get very close to the animals, whether it is the horses or even the goats. The dogs and cats are a whole different story. We did adopt out Chewey last week. He was the Begal/ Collie mix I found a Wal-Mart in late May. We hated to give him up but he wouldn't stay in in the half acre enclosure and really got a kick out of our neighbors trash cans. Now we are looking for a home for a few of the goats. We started out with three and now have six. If we can't get the one fixed soon, Lord knows how many we;ll have. Unfortunately most vets won't due the surgery until the fall so we just have to wait it out.
